Welcome Back Mentee

As a mentee, before you start looking at the profile of the mentors in the network, read the guidance notes so that you are clear about what mentoring is. and isn't, how the relationship should be set up and managed, what to expect from the relationship and the roles and responsibilities of mentors and mentees. Before you approach a potential mentor we recommend that you undertake the half day Mentor Training workshop and then spend some time considering what you want to achieve through your mentoring relationship.

Once you are clear about your own goals and expectations, have a look at the mentor profiles available. They are categorised in broad development groups (e.g. Leadership and Management; Research etc). It is a good idea to select two or three potential mentors and meet or speak to them before making a final selection.

An example email, that you may wish to send to a potential mentor, is available by following the link: mentee introductory email.

As a mentee you will be encouraged to challenge your assumptions, broaden your horizons, raise your aspirations and increase your achievements through individualised support. Your mentor should be a sounding board, offering guidance through periods of instability and career growth, helping you to manage change and ultimately empowering you to improve your self-confidence and self-awareness.
